The reason why Eli is my favorite son~ Literally.

We went to to 5 Guys for dinner the other night.

I noticed a perplexed look on Eli's face and asked him what was up.

"I don't get it... there's WAY more than 5 guys in here."

And just when I think I couldn't possibly love him anymore than I already do, he says something like that.  

Osm.

That was one of his better observations, followed closely by this one from last summer...

This is the air museum near Tillamook Oregon and we pass it every August on our way to Cape Kiwanda.

It's Ginormous.

We drive by and Eli comments, "that would be really boring".

"Why do you think that?", we ask.

"Its just a huge building of air.  What's so great about that?"

Osm.

Literally.

Current favorite child.

Why?

Because she told me this~

"Mom, you have an outstanding heart, a grateful mind, and a caring soul."

I will remind her of this next time she screams, "I hate you!"

No offense

My girls love to say this.

"no offense, but..."

normally I would stop them from completing the sentence,

"If you have to say, 'no offense', then you're probably about to offend someone."

I don't stop them anymore because they rarely say it in the right context.

and its good for a laugh,

"Mom, no offense, but it's raining."

"Mom, no offense, but I'm wearing these shoes today."

My favorite so far is from Piper, after we went through the check-out line at the store,

"Mom, no offense, but that guys name was "Brain!"

pause... I had a couple of options here.

I started with, "Why would I be offended at his name?"

"Cuz it's BRAIN!"

how was it spelled, Piper?

"B-R-I-A-N"

riiiiiigggghhhhtt....

 Piper, no offense, but you're osm.

 

Highlight of my day, and it's not even 10am yet!

Location: Eli's classroom

Mr. L is mapping out the day for the kids and a hand pops up.

"Billy, do you have a question?"

"Umm... no, it's more of a random comment."

You've got to appreciate his honesty.

Osm.

"Mom, you have a goosebump!  Are you cold?"

He was half right.  

"Ummm.... yes.  Pancake anyone?!"
