Have you met Poppy?

Did you know she's a Christian dog?  She totally has a cross on.  Obviously.

Here's the deal...

I think I'm more excited for my puppy than I was to have my own children.

Does that sound weird?

It probably does if you DON'T have children.

Here's the thing~

I don't have to send this puppy to college or teach it to be a nice person.

My commitment is probably 12-15 years and won't cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

She won't roll her eyes at me and say, "Whatever Mom."

I could even kick her (which I won't) and she'd still love me 2 seconds later.

Children are over-rated.

Speaking of... I should go since mine are sledding around the neighborhood unsupervised.

Bad mommy.

Dear Thing 2 and Thing 3,

Sometimes you bicker.

Sometimes you taunt each other.

Eli, you tell me that Piper "is sooooo ignoring!"  (I know that you mean "annoying" but I can't correct you at the time because I'm too busy being the referee.  Plus it's kind of funny;)

Piper, you say, "I want a new brother!" 

Well I say, "You're both exasperating me!"

But then I found this...

So you really DO love each other and you're just fighting to exasperate me.

You guys are soooo sweet!

But remember this... if you exasperate me too much, then I will show this video to all of your friends.  

Don't mess with the mommy.

I will win every time.

I better go help Eli get dressed in his black clothes so we can drink Diet Coke and listen to Thriller.

Dear teachers of my Favorite Elementary School,

I will give you a million dollars to start school tomorrow.

Okay, so I really don't have a million dollars, but I would if I could.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my children.

It's not that I want them out of the house

It's just that I want them out of the house from 9-3.

You see, they're exceptional really.

They're over-achievers that are so eager to learn.

And, as most of you know, I'm not homeschool material.

I'm just not that gifted.

I have other gifts.

Like making you dinner and bringing you coffee for all the hard work you put into my children's education.

Call me if you'd like to take me up on my offer.

I'll be waiting by the phone.

Osm is so many ways.

Techno love

I struggle with the relationship between technology and my children.

I kind of want them to stay in a bubble.

I don't want them to watch TV, play video games, have iPods, DS's, cell phones, etc.

My girls like to play "Little House on the Prairie".

I'd like them to play that throughout high school.

They probably won't get asked to the prom, but that's okay.

I'd stay home with them and churn butter while Eric fiddles by the fire.

 

But every once in awhile I'm reminded that it will be okay.

Eric texts me most mornings.

Samantha intercepted it yesterday and here was the result:

Eric- "Good morning!"

Samantha- "Good morning Daddy.  Love Sammers"

Eric- "Hi Sam.  Have a great day today!"

Samantha- "I will."

Eric- "Ok- I love you."

Samantha- "I bet you a million $!"

Eric- "What are we betting on?"

Samantha- "Love"

Eric- "Ok- a million $... you win"

Samantha- "Love u.  got to go now."

 

New rule...

When the day comes that my children get a cell phone; texting to Dad only.

Wine Flu

No, that's not a typo.  Wine flu is what the mommy gets when her children have been home from school for 3 days straight.  

Day 1-  I am really tender and empathetic but still have to escape when Husband returns.

Day 2-  I am really tender and empathetic for half a day.  Then it hit me.

I got Wine Flu.  That's when you are no longer watching the clock to see when you can give medicine, but to see when you can have a glass of wine.  

4 o'clock too early?

They are lame, boring and overpriced which is why I'm taking my own! Now if I can just find a wagon wheel...

I've even done some for friends.  

I should start a business.
